We created this organization with a mission to care for rescued farmed animals, educate the community on vegan living, and inspire compassion for all living beings.
We will provide a safe haven for animals to live out their lives in the most natural species specific environment we can create. Each animal will receive proper medical care, food, shelter, and enrichment. Assessment areas will be created for incoming animals to determine their health and needs while preventing the spread of illness to current residents. Rest and wellness areas for sick and/or injured animals will be provided as well. Families and friends will be kept together as animals have complex social structures. Animals may come from factory farms, CAFOs, live markets, backyard butchers, and abandonment and neglect by individuals. Coming to us with fear and mistrust, we must work to understand each beautiful individual to gently help them transform into the beings they were naturally born to be.
The Vegan Society defines veganism as "a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." We will discuss topics such as animal testing, plant based diet, health concerns, vegan pregnancy, vegan children, vegan athletes, the environmental impact of veganism vs animal agriculture, factory farms, animals exploited for entertainment, backyard chickens, school hatching projects, and sanctuaries vs zoos, among other issues. We strive to create a welcoming space for people new to veganism and assist those who are struggling. Most of us were not raised vegan, so let's be gentle and supportive of one another as we navigate the best ways to adopt and maintain a vegan lifestyle, collectively shifting to a more compassionate world.
We cannot find peace as a society if any member, human or nonhuman, is suffering. It requires us to speak out against cruelty, exploitation, inequality, and oppression of any kind. This includes speciesism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ageism, ableism, and classism. All living beings deserve to live out their lives with peace, love, dignity, and respect. We can help one another live up to our greatest potential, blossoming into the beings we were naturally born to be with individual talents and desires. The decisions we make can help alleviate distress or contribute to anguish. Our words can inspire or diminish. Being mindful of both our actions and language, let compassion be at the heart of the choices we make. And rather than be a reflection of despair, let us be an example of a bright light in a sometimes darkened world.
